Where were YOU one year ago......?

I wonder......yes it is! Exactly ONE amazing year ago a boy started on his mission to travel the world aiming to grow and focusing on his speaking abilities.
One year ago this boy was on a plane making his way to New Zealand, and he didn't even know where's Taiwan.

In one year this boy has been to these countries:
New Zealand
Australia
Scotland
England
Ireland
Netherlands
Belgium
South-Africa
Taiwan

This boy attended 7 McGuire Courses in those countries

This boy did the following jobs:
Pier-man assistant
Furniture mover
Household assistant (fancy name for cleaner)
Cook
Gardener
Animal Caretaker
Bouncer ( only for 5 hours.....)
Waiter
Exhibition Contractor
Barman

Master of Ceremonies
Teacher

In this time he attended 7 speaking club meetings, and appeared in 5 media articles.
His website receives a minimum average of 10 views per day, his YouTube video has been viewed over 615 times.

His website had been linked to numerous McGuire websites and other stuttering resource pages.
During this time, this boy has spoken into approximately 7000 new faces.....or as he calls them, contacts.

This boy is not blowing his own horn......but thought this would be a good summary of what he has been doing in the last year so that people visiting his website for the first time could see.
This boy is wondering why he is referring to himself in the third person ?????
All this has cost him the price of a 2004 model Ford Fiesta 1.6i Trend

This boy is not a fluent speaker, but a recovering stammerer who is growing in becoming an eloquent speaker......

This boy is feeling happy about what he has accomplished in one year :) .....and is wondering if anyone out there who would dare leave a comment about their perspective on their own year, the boy's year, or if they have any questions to the boy.............he said.

Who am I ?

Hi, My name is Hein van der Merwe.

My story basically is that I'm a recovering stutterer aka McGuire Graduate who has been on the program for 7 months now. (More McGuire Inforamtion will follow soon.....

I am 24 years of age with a university degree. I have decided to devote a certian time of my life(6 months - 2years) to improve my speaking, interpersonal and social skills. I am going to acheive this by going on a world tour and attending as much McGuire Courses as possible. I wish to inspire other people to work hard on the speech recovery as It really gives you freedom, and also to work hard on my own speech.  Also now as a person who can control his stutter I finally have enough confidence to travel the world and see as much of it as possible. My tour starts 11 May in SA with the course in Bloemfontein, thereafter I want to attend the course in New  Zealand, Palmerston North and thereafter in Melbourne Australia. Then I want to visit Australia for a month and end my time there with the course in Brisbane 22 - 25 June. I then plan to go to Europe and do some courses there. In my travels I also want to attend Toastmasters to do my speeches until I'm a CTM (cunrrently C&L2) and do odd jobs here and there to support myself, jobs where I have to speak alot. I am going sell most of my possesions to pay for my tour. There is still quite some planning to be done but I am looking forward very much to my tour. It is going to be great to meet al of the McGuire people all over the world.

This site is still being built up, more information will follow soon, thanks for your support.....
