Last day in Holland...

And so my final day in holland has arrived. I was still in Brugge(Belguim) yesterday morning and from there travelled to Rotterdam. The reason for this was that I attended a support group for stutterers lastr night. This group is called "de StotterCafe" and meets up on a six-weekly basis. Last nights theme was "the McGuire Programma". The regional director of the McGuire programme in Holland(Frits Boshuijer) gave a very good presentation on what the McGuire programme is. This presentation was attended by about 15 stutterers and a speech therapist. There was quite some interest on what the programme does and the results, and Frits clearly demostrated and explained and this is not a cure for stuttering, and we do not aim to be 100% fluent, but to be in control our stammer and aim for eloquent speaking. There were with me 3 other McGuire graduates and it was good to see them again. We were also there to support Frits in his presentation and show that support from other recovering stutterers is what gives the McGuire Programme its uniqueness. I feel enriched after attending this event and seeing non-McGuire stutterers. It showed me once again the road that I have travelled in my speech recovery.

Rotterdam is a very modern city with some crazy looking architecture. But very well orginanized and I find it .....clean. I visited the Marintine Museum, Marine Museum and also the Museum Boijmans Van Beuninge (don't say that to fast) which holds a wide multifaced collection of old and modern art. I end my 1st Holland trip with +/- 4700 contacts.Tonight I travel back to busy London and start the next working cycle. And so the wheel keeps turning.

1 - Hi Hein.
Well done ou maat!

Groete,
Jacques
